A.L.I.E.D will launch the summer of 2010 in Miami Florida. The promotions that we will use will include the following: Flyers will be made and posted up on South beach Blvd we will sale our samples at this event and will be taking preorders. The event will be held at the Hyatt on South beach Blvd in their show room. When A.L.I.E.D takes off we will run a tight marketing plan, and will have a close relationship with our vendors, and clients. Our comapny will have a gross margin the retailer makes as a percentage of sales after cost of goods sold are subtracted. Lamb Hair McDaniel, Mktg ch 13 pg 193. Promotional Strategy is a plan for the optimal use of the elements of promotion: advertising, public relations, personal selling, and sales promotion. Our company will have advertising in local newspapers, and flyers will be made for local boutique shops. A.L.I.E.D is a girly girl yet sophisticated woman’s fragrance that is targeted for the ages of 16-18 to 25-30. This fragrance will be sold at Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Nordstrom. After conducting a survey at the Art Institute I learned that two of the consumer’s would want to smell a bold scent with a hint of lavender, vanilla and pear. On the other hand three students preferred a light scent with vanilla, lavender, Carmel or strawberry. (On March 21, 2010). These women will be fashionistas and will know what they want in a perfume such as A.L.I.E.D. The market worth will be a million the first year and will double the second year. Place will be geographical so not just the locals will be able to buy the fragrance but everyone can pick it up. In Madmen they kept on bashing Volkswagen but yet every time they saw an ad for the car on the street they would discuss it. They said the marketing was bad on it but maybe if they would have looked past the marketing and look at the features of the car and what the car has to offer. I think this would have been a good marketing approach.

In 1934, Ferdinand Porsche was commissioned to build a small, inexpensive car at the request of Adolph Hitler. His answer -- a beetle-shaped sedan that was called a Volkswagen (German for "people's car") -- debuted two years later. Hitler had a town built near the plant for factory workers; he named it Kraft durch Freude Stadt (derived from the Nazi party's motto, "Joy through Strength"), and soon decided that Porsche's creation should be named the KdF-wagen (short for the "Joy through Strength" car). This upset Porsche, who was not political.

World War II delayed production of the vehicle; the factory suffered extensive damage during combat, and was ultimately taken over by the British Army. The company was renamed Volkswagen, and the town at the factory was renamed Wolfsburg (after Werner von Schulenberg of Wolfsburg, who had been forced to surrender his land for the construction of the town and factory). By the end of the 1940s, mass production of the Volkswagen Beetle had begun. The model made its first appearance on U.S. shores in 1949.

Did you know that the first Volkswagen was a Porsche design? Ferdinand Porsche, who had been chief designer for Daimler-Benz, Auto-Union, and now had his own engineering consultation firm, was put in charge of designing the Volkswagen – “The Peoples Car” by Adolf Hitler.
Hitler wanted a small four seater car, with an air cooled and durable engine that would get 40 miles to the gallon, and could be bought for less than 1000 Marks (about $250.00). Ferdinand Porsche had already been in the design stages of an affordable small car years earlier, but had never been able to bring it into production. Between 1935 and 1937 Porsche built a total of 50 Volkswagen prototypes with the flat four air cooled engine designed by Franz Reimspeiss – a unit very similar to that used throughout the car’s production.
Politically, an affordable car such as the Volkswagen, was a strong platform for Hitler to win the public support that he desperately needed for his military adventures. Hitler wasn’t about to let anything get in his way, and he clamped down on iron and steel allocations to other manufacturers and used Nazi financing for the project. He also took over the private estate of Earl Von Schulenberg at Wolfsburg to build a factory. This became, and still is, the biggest car factory of automobiles in the world.
The Wolfsburg Factory never produced a production Volkswagen because by the time the factory was completed, Hitler had already annexed Austria, and invaded Czechoslavakia and Poland. Consequently, the factory was redirected and taken over by the German air traffic ministry and the total production was converted to meet the war demand.
It was only after the war in 1946 that the Volkswagen finally became the “Peoples Car”. The Wolfsburg plant was located in the British zone of occupation and became a repair depot. The British selected Major Ivan Hirst as responsible for the factory. He wanted to start producing Volkswagens since the war had created a huge demand for a small cheap car. The Virginia-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its "top safety pick" on Wednesday to 19 passenger cars and eight sport utility vehicles for the 2010 model year. The institute substantially reduced the number of awards compared with 2009, because of tougher requirements for roof strength.
Ford Motor Co. and its Volvo unit received the most awards with six, followed by five awards apiece for Japanese automaker Subaru and German automaker Volkswagen AG and its Audi unit.
Toyota Motor Corp., BMW AG, Mazda Motor Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. were shut out in the annual IIHS review.
The vehicles are selected for best protecting motorists in front, side and rear crash tests based on Institute evaluations during the year. The vehicles are required to have electronic stability control, or ESC, to qualify for the award. They should serve real ingredients, and real Angus beef. There products that they serve are like plastic to me and I don’t eat McDonald’s. If they raised their price to 10 ten dollars for a burger I think that there target market would change. The people that go to other fast food establishments for a finer kind of meat like burger king and Carl’s junior will start eating at McDonald’s. I think that the competition is Burger king, Fat burger, Inn n out and jack in the box. Inn n out has fresh meat that is served daily and is prepared there. McDonalds to me is processed and not real it reminds me of plastic. The only that I would have at McDonalds is a sweet ice tea I don’t trust the food. I have several friends that eat there, and I really don’t get that they rather go there than a real fast food establishment. However, if McDonalds decided to charge more for their burger and change their product I think that they would have a different consumer base. They would probably have two types of consumers the first one would be the loyal customers that likes their food ,and liked the prices. The second type of consumer would be the one that decided to give another place a shot such as McDonalds. I don’t eat meat so you wouldn’t catch me eating McDonalds but when I was in New York they had a veggie burger that was pretty good and it didn’t taste plastic. It actually had a lot of flavor but it did cost like $4.00. It seems that everyone these days is changing their packing, and prices so I wouldn’t be surprised if McDonalds changed their image. So if you see a price change at McDonalds it could be a good thing.

The name will be A.L.I.E.D which stands for Alluring, Lustful, Independent, Enticing, and Delicious. My product is targeted for the everyday woman that likes to be a girly girl. The fragrance will have a fresh pear scent and a touch of vanilla. It will be used on the go, and will last throughout your day. It will have a bold scent and everyone will know you have entered the spot. You will feel fabulous, and sophisticated like a young woman should. Our goal is for everyone to be talking about the rare, unique scent to their family and friends. The bottle will have luxurious curves so it’s shaped like women. The perfume bottle will be eight ounces, and will say A.L.I.E.D in a pale pink that will match the color of the box. The perfume packaging will come in a pale pink square box, and will have a gold trim lining. The price point will be 50.00 a bottle. It will be sold at high end department stores. My first target market is anywhere from 16-18. These young girls will shop at Forever 21 and Macy’s. My second target market is the ages between 25-30.These woman shop at whole foods, and Victoria secret. So whether you are attending a party or out with your friends you will look and smell great. My product will draw attention of the men and have them lusting for a women’s attention. A.L.I.E.D will make you feel Romance, Confident, Powerful and Determined. My product will be a part of the global marketing mix. I will conduct market research thoroughly this way I will know what the consumer’s wants and needs are in the product. When choosing this fragrance I wanted something that was different, charismatic, and unforgettable to the senses.

Superbowl

Super bowl

I thought that the commercials that were played on the super bowl were funny and had great strategic planning. The Hyundai commercial must have played about six to seven times and it said one thing change. It seems that they are trying to reach the consumer in a different way rather than their old approach. I think that this is a good thing because before they were focused on dependable and price and now it’s all about the luxury of the automobile. They are making a new name for their company and are trying a different marketing approach this time. Now Hyundai is going to be about status and not repetition. I also loved the etrade commercials the babies that are on their crack me up even know their marketing stock trade and how the baby portrays himself out to be a business man. Some of the commercials I didn’t get and I think that they shouldn’t have aired them. The Doritos commercial with the little boy was hilarious it made a good point don’t touch the Doritos. I didn’t see much alcohol commercials though I was surprised being that they always show beer commercials. They decided to focus on automobiles and recycling with paper not plastic. I worked the day of the super bowl I tried to watch as much as possible of the game but it was hard. It brought in a lot of consumer’s into Vegas and into our restaurant Margaritaville. Our bars were packed with sports fans however it did bring in some odd people. We had the drunks/trashy disrespectful people that made my job harder than it needed to be. I’m actually glad it’s over so we don’t half to face anymore drama. I did enjoy the marketing that was shown throughout Las Vegas though.

movie madman

I really thought that the marketing research that was involved in this movie was great. The techniques that were being used are similar to what we’re learning in class. The fifties were about the working man and not so much the working woman. Using tobacco was a perfect example of marketing in this show and the steps that you take to have a successful campaign. Advertising is key when doing market research for a product. Some of the material that we learn in class is familiar but I’m learning new things. I can relate the class to the movie in several ways such as the marketing approach that is taken.

Why I think that this super bowl ad is affective
This commercial targets 21 and over men and woman and of course sport fans and the average beer drinker. I think that this commercial has humor to it which I like because It’s not all that serious and It makes you laugh. This one cracks me up leave it to the guy in the car to say to the girl we should pick him up and he has beer. The girl is looking at him crazy and thinks that he has lost his mind to be picking up a stranger even if he does have beer. If you think about it the commercial makes you understand the market strategy behind it and the statistics that they had used. They are using advertising for the super bowl and the beer that is used throughout commercial. When making a commercial you need to have a market strategy for your target audience that you are trying to reach. You need to know consumers behaviors and their demographics and psychographics. It seems like a lot of super bowl commercials are about beer. I will make sure to pay attention to all the commercials that are playing at the super bowl this Sunday.

customer service week 3

Great customer service
I remember going to the forum shops into the juicy store and looking at the handbags that were on the shelf. This lady came up to me and asked me if I needed any help, she was very friendly, and attentive. There was a pink leather handbag that I saw but it wasn’t the size I wanted. So I left my phone number with the lady and asked her to call me if they got a bigger size in. A couple of weeks later I got a call from another juicy store that was located in the towns square, and the girl said that a sales associate from the forum shops had told her that I was looking for a certain bag in a certain size. I was more than pleased with this customer service, and I took a trip down to the juicy store at town square. When I went it to ask for the sales associate she said that’s me and I have your bag on hold for you in the back. She was very nice, and made me feel important as a customer. I ended up getting the purse, and some accessories and pair of shoes. If I had received bad customer service I wouldn’t have got that purse, and I wouldn’t have returned to that store again. I believe that customer service is very important in the industry along with everyday life. I did return back to that store at a later date and I received horrible customer service and I haven’t returned there since. I did call the assistant manager and told them about the amazing customer service that I received, but I also received the worst. The worst thing you can see when you walk into a store is people chatting with each other and you being ignored.

eoc week 2- My demograph

My generation The Generation x.
I feel that my generation is known for saving money and living in the now. What I mean by that is we are smart with our paychecks but we spend money on technology just as much as the generation y does. I feel that the target market is sometimes targeted at us when it comes to certain products such as telephones and also retail fashion. I think that all the generations are somehow tied together from the grey area, baby boomers, gen x and the gen y which are known as the millenniums. We all have similar behaviors, and some of us have certain shopping patterns that make us alike. We are divided up into generations, because of the different events that have taken place throughout history, and all the changes that have occurred somehow are repeating themselves on to today. Our society and culture is constantly changing, but yet still goes back to the cycle that we all live in this everyday life that still somehow ties us together. I really like my generation because we were around when the greatest sitcoms of the 80’s were on television and some of the greatest hip hop that I listened to in high school came out in the 90’s.

My mom, dad, brother, and I would go there and that was our way of eating a family dinner. Pioneer chicken was known for their crispy chicken, and their amazing mashed potatoes. They offered a convenient location which was right down the street from where my family and I lived at in California. They are what Kentucky fried chicken today is tasty good. The reason why I have chosen this establishment as my favorite is because of all the great memories that my family and I shared.

I’m currently a student at the Art institute of Las Vegas studying for fashion retail management, where I will receive my Bachelors of Science degree. I would like to be a stylist, and work for theatre production shows. I also would like to work at Chanel as a head visual merchandiser, and I would like to learn the fundamentals of fashion show production. I would like to be a fashion editor for in style, and Vogue magazine, so that I can bring my fashion expertise to the table. I would like to travel to Paris to shadow Rachael Zoe in her everyday life. My education at the Art Institute has taught me the basic fundamentals of fashion, and what it has to offer me as a career. I have learned the different concepts of promotions, advertising, and marketing which can further me in my career. I was given the opportunity to model in a fashion show this experience taught me what it was like being behind the scenes instead of in front. My professors have taught me so much about the fashion industry. I have learned so much that I can take with me into my profession that I have the confidence that I will do exceptional in my field. I’m currently interning at the New York New York hotel in Las Vegas where I'm redesigning one of their windows.
